The black lever in the all the way down position doesn't even touch the choke lever. There is no way to actuate the choke with this set up. Are there wrong parts put together in this saw?

A pict of the master control switch would tell us what you have to work with, that is the cross shaft connected to the on off/choke switch.

When you push the switch all the way down the lever arm on the cross shaft contacts the choke lever tang in the filter to close the choke. I can see the black cross shaft of the master control is there and should operate correctly.

To get the choke to the on position I find if I squeeze the trigger in tight and push down on the switch with my thumb the switch will go all the way down more easily and thus close the choke at the same time.

No what you see is the mcs all the way down and it still doesn't even touch the choke lever. There is no way you can make the two touch each other.

It doesn't look like the choke lever is all the way down. Pull the trigger, holding it, and push the choke lever down. ( i see pioneerguy said that, i type to slow)

Maybe it's time to replace this filter anyway.

His switch is not all the way down in his first pict, to get it all the way down the throttle trigger needs to be fully depressed while pushing down on the choke switch.

Baileys show my replacement filter to be 1121 120 1618 and the last four digits on the two halves of my filter are 1602 and 1607. I think this is not the right filter.
-no check that, the baileys filter is for the pro model I think.

It is as far down as it will go without breaking the plastic master control switch.

Okay I figured it out, the spring is bent so that I can't push the lever all the way down unless I physically push the spring out of the way.
I guess I'll have to bend the spring a little to correct.
Thanks guys.

Oh my god I had to bend that spring 4 different ways so that it offered enough resistance not to flop "off" easily but still let it go to full choke. What a pita.

The spring on the 026 often gets bent when and if the master control is operated when the airfilter is off the carb, the filter actually pushes down and outward on that stainless steel spring.
