What You Need to Know

  • Ex-FTX CEO Ryan Salame was sentenced to 90 months in prison in May for engaging in campaign finance fraud and conspiracy to operate an unlicensed money transmitting business.
  • On June 29, Salame claimed he was "mauled by a German Shepherd while visiting a friend's home."
  • A federal district court in New York approved a 45-day continuance of his prison term following the mauling incident.

A federal district court in New York approved a 45-day continuance for a former FTX Digital Markets Ltd. executive to start his 90-month prison term following an animal mauling his face.

Mark E. Bini, a partner at Reed Smith in its New York and Miami offices who is a former federal prosecutor not involved in thecase, said the ruling by U.S. District Judge Lewis A. Kaplan of the Southern District of New York appeared to be routine. The defendant is ex-FTX CEO Ryan Salame.
